Install burglar bars that thieves can’t get past
Door screens & burglar bars have 1 main purpose – to prevent unwanted persons from gaining access into your home or office. That’s it. So before you finalise your design choice or the paint color, make sure your burglar bar design ticks these 2 boxes:
- The spacing between bars shouldn’t be too wide
- The steel should be the right thickness and or size
Spacing: In general we don’t recommend spacing which is more than 12cm in-between bars. From 12cm upwards small valuable items can fit in the gaps between the bars. Also, burglars have more space to manoeuvre to access valuable items which may be within reach.
Steel size or guage : If you don’t need an electric grinder to cut the steel you shouldn’t be using it for screens or burglar bars. We use many steel types to fabricate designs – round bars, deformed bars, round tubes, square tubes, flat bars etc. What they all have in common is that the gauge / thickness is so strong that it’s not easily bent or cut through.
And that’s it – those 2 simple but very critical rules form the basis of all our burglar bar designs.

I like how you emphasized that people don’t need electric grinders to break metal. If the steel metal bars are placed well, all steel burglar bars can be unbreakable. If I were a home and gardens specialist, I can make good use of these bars as potted plant racks and so.
