Why install a booster pump AND a tank stand?

Short answer: Added convenience

Long answer: In most cases, the property owner wants to enjoy water supplied at high pressure by the booster pump. But, when there is no electricity, the booster pump does not pump water. That’s when the tank stand comes in, because it uses gravity to supply water from the tank to the building. The pressure supplied by a tank stand is less than the pressure supplied by a booster pump.

In other cases it’s because there’s a specific need in the home or office for water at high pressure. Examples include some sprinkler systems, dishwashers or fire hose systems.

One installation where we did this was for a commercial property in Msasa. The company needed water to use in the bathrooms as well as in the kitchen for 5 or so staff members. For that use, the pressure supplied by the tank stand is good enough.
They ALSO needed water to be connected to their fire hose for emergency fire situations. For that use, water needs to to be supplied at high pressure. Hence why they then opted to also have a booster pump installed.

In summary, you would install the booster pump to supply water at high pressure. Then install the tank stand as a ‘back-up’, for the times when the pump is off.
